Police responded to Martin Luther King Jr. K-8 School, located at 77 Lawrence Avenue in Dorchester, for a report of a person with a firearm around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, according to the Boston Police Department.
A juvenile had what appeared to be a gun in their book bag and handed it over to a person, who police did not identify, who put it in the bottom drawer of a desk.
School staff then called 911.
Police arrived and confirmed that the weapon was a gun, taking pictures of the weapon and processing it.
The firearm in question was later confirmed to be a BB gun, according to the police report.
There were no injuries and there have been no arrests.
The incident is still under investigation by the Boston Police Department.
